This was bothering me. Since we have the boot screens now and it seems like more and more boots are showing up. How many people are actually using them? And how many really need them. What I mean by that, how many actually reboot their computer? I tend to leave mine on for days sometimes weeks. It depends on my usage and how it seems to be acting or if I update certain things that require a reboot. It's a simple question that was on my mind. And seeing if it was worth while to even complete the boot screen I started if that many people don't even use them.

I have rebooted twice since the alpha/beta whatever it was first came out. I can't really remember what the image was...

The board is completely messed up today.

Anyhow, I switch my machine off when I don't use it. There is no point in leaving it on all the time.

And yes, I use them boot screens. No, I don't see them often, but it's the thought that counts.

I turn off my computer every night before I go to bed and boot every morning, sometimes I like to watch what happens, and have made a couple of my own.

I see nothing wrong with Bootskins, and are easy for beginners to create and get on the skinning ladder, that also goes for Logon screens

So let's give them all a chance

Prior to the new Boot Screen Programme I had seen far to many horror stories with people playing with their boot screens and for that reason i will not be using them. Customization is a great thing but for a "one second show" - no thank you. Now Logon screens are different as sometimes prior to logging on to XP i will leave it hanging plus when swapping between accounts it shows up. Just my 2 cents worth

It seems very strange to me that if WindowBlinds is updated via SDC it will tell you that it needs to reboot to finished installing, and many people say they never reboot, well I'm not surprised that these many people are having problems with their WB installation.

Or is it just me that needs to reboot on updates of WB or MS Critical updates (or any other software)

Perhaps a reboot would solve many problems.

Im using the Bootskins, but I really wish now that they have brought the rainlendar skins instead, DX2 Calanders are fine, just not as popular. Rainlendar section would be ten times the calanders than what DX2 has to offer. Rainlendar please!

I agree with Meyend Tripp, the calendars are fine for those who use DesktopX all the time, but a calendar is useful for those who don't, but although useful and would be nice to see, I for one am not really desperate for the, the defaults are ok for me

Possibly a new section for the future

I don't know why I do it but I have a habit if I have to reboot when everything is done loading, I kill the calendar. Even though it doesn't use up hardly any memory.

as others do I switch off my pc before I go to bed and restart it the following morning, and although the bootscreen is visible for only a few seconds it just rounds off that front end nicely...

exactly the same thing with logon screens, which I don't use to actually log on with, but they do make a sneaky little appearance as my pc boots or shuts down

I have a question for all of you people who never seem to reboot your computers.. Are you using the latest versions of WB? The reason I ask is that it seems EVERY time I've installed the latest veriosn of WB from SDCentral it's made me reboot my computer.. Does everyone else just ignore that reboot the PC prompt? On a more thread friendly note, I will absolutely use the new BootSkin app once it gets a tad more polish. I am specifically waiting for it to support more colors..

If I need to take this question to another thread I will I just thought it fit in here because of the comments about never rebooting and all..

since my machine is on 24/7, a bootscreen changer is kinda.... useless to me

dont see the use of rebooting, the powercosts are not an issue, so why turn it off? I also have a server running full time, that one is quite packed away so I acces it trough my main machine
