This was bothering me. Since we have the boot screens now and it seems like more and more boots are showing up. How many people are actually using them? And how many really need them. What I mean by that, how many actually reboot their computer? I tend to leave mine on for days sometimes weeks. It depends on my usage and how it seems to be acting or if I update certain things that require a reboot. It's a simple question that was on my mind. And seeing if it was worth while to even complete the boot screen I started if that many people don't even use them.

Not everyone uses windowblinds. Even those who do, does it force you to reboot more than once a week?

Well on my sisters XP computer the boot screen is only up for a good 3 seconds; Maybe less.

and she doesn't like skinning so no Boot Screen on hers

Can't use it on my win98 computer sooo....

I don't use them.

Oh and the rebooting when updating to a new version of windowblinds:

I think you can just not reboot, but the new updates won't be in use until you do.

Or not update to the new windowblinds.

Me, I turn my computer off all the time. Not sure anymore if that extends the life of the computer or not. I use to assume so but now I don't know.

Keeps the electic bill low.

I use it, mostly because I find the default WinXP Pro bootscreen to be ugly. Yes, it's just a few seconds every couple of weeks, but that's just one less thing left to the MSFT default

BTW, does anyone know if it'll just be the bootscreen, or will it be extended to the hibernate screen, etc? If it's extended to the hibernate screen, that's definitely a good thing as I see it several times a day.

I use BootSkin! I only see the images for about 5 seconds per week, but I do use them. I think its gonna be great once the program is fully refined.

I installed a bootskin because I am a skinning junkie, but after receiving the blue screen of death (WINXP) on boot up i uninstalled.

Morning routine:

get to work.
switch on computer
make espresso
get to work.

I use them. I have a laptop and i turn off my laptop before i put it in my bag to carry somewhere else to use (aw the beauty of a laptop).

Same here, same reason. No I don't use them on my desktops because I rarely reboot them either. However my laptop may be rebooted several times a day so the skins are nice.

We had a poll on what sections people wanted. Rainlendar got creamed. It had its shot. It'll get another shot someday in the future but the poll results weren't even close.

No....I'm not quite getting why folks are getting scolded for not letting WB reboot. I only reboot when I have to, which includes when a program needs it. Sheesh.

How often does somebody update their software? And I don't think a new version of WB comes out once a week

Are you sure you didn't do something to Windows to cause this problem. Are you sure that your hardware is not faulty. Stardock said that BootSkin does not hack Windows.

The only BSODs during boot up on XP I ever had was caused by a hardware problem.

does anybody here turn on their computer and walk away from it to do something else until the Longon screen comes on?

That is another reason why I don't see the boot screen on my sisters computer.

Are you kidding? I could make lunch while this thing reboots. In fact I just did....Started Stardock Central, ran the updates, rebooted, went to kitchen....mmm, sandwiches.
